Minutes - Monthly Membership Meeting
San Ramon


The April meeting was called to order by President Rick Terry at 09:34 hours at the San Ramon Community Center.

Bill Lichtenberger of the Newark Fire Department led the pledge of allegiance.

Theresa Ingle, San Ramon Fire Department was appointed Sergeant at Arms.

Host Fire Marshal/President Rick Terry welcomed the group to the City Of San Ramon. He then introduced his staff: Theresa Ingle, Laura Pesonen, Natalie Probert, Darrel Jones, Erick Hubbard, Johnny Young, George Devendorf, Glenn Peterson.

President Terry recognized Roxanne W. Lindsay president of San Ramon Valley Fire District Board of Directors. Curt Kinney Mayor City of San Ramon. State Senator Richard Rainey 7th District, Chairperson for Committee of Local Government.

Self-introductions were made. President Terry acknowledged the co-chairs. At this time Fort Hartsfield, past president declared a quorum.

A Motion was made/s to approve the January 2000 minutes. Minutes were approved as mailed.


Exchange of ideas:

Vernon Brown Sacramento County Fire District asked for anyone who would like to host a Norcal meeting in 2001 to contact him. Vernon also handed out a questionnaire from Orange County Fire Authority requesting information on narrow roads and turnarounds. See attachement

Robert Evans Stockton Fire Department discussed ethylene oxide use at a Chiquita banana plant in Stockton.

Larry Larson Past President NFSA stated that AB2115 passed one governmental committee and is working its way through the process. This bill would require full smoke and sprinkler protection in schools.

Glen Peterson is looking for information from anyone who has experienced a fire and the smoke control system has activated.


State Fire Marshal Report - Joe Garcia CDF/Office of the State Fire Marshal

John Gould - CDF/Office of the State Fire Marshal gave a regulations update. John stated that the state has passed emergency regulation concerning security bars on windows. All new security bars must have an approved releasing device installed. The state is reviewing fire extinguisher regulations. The code 2000 partnership has two and half months to review the international building code for state amendments.

Meeting was adjourned to Committees and Executive Board meeting at 10:50 hours.


Afternoon Program – Jim Burnetti of Central Sprinkler Company discussed attic sprinklers and combustible concealed space sprinklers.

Much appreciation is extended to the San Ramon Fire Department and all staff for making the necessary arrangements. The organization appreciates all raffle contributions that support the organization and committee activities.
