President Arvin called the August 27, 2004 meeting to order at 0930 hours at the Petaluma Lucchesi Center at Petaluma, California.

Past President Keith Schoenthal led the pledge of allegiance.

President Arvin led the membership in a moment of silence for Firefighter Jaime L. Foster, a firefighter from the Los Angeles City Fire Department who recently lost her life in the line of duty.

Past President Darrell Harguth was appointed Sergeant of Arms.

President Wes Arvin welcomed the group and introduced the meeting host Bobby MacIntyre President Sonoma County FPO’s. Mr. MacIntyre introduced and thanked the host staff and than introduced host Fire Chief Chris Albertson and Mayor David Glass who welcomed the membership to Petaluma.

President Arvin recognized the visiting Fire Chiefs, Past Presidents and Building Officials.

Self-introductions were made. President Arvin asked Immediate Past President Mike Stewart to declare a quorum.

President Arvin asked for a motion to approve the July 2004 minutes. The motion was made and seconded.

President Arvin reported to the membership status of the approved NORCAL FPO's Marketing Plan. President Arvin asked the membership to approve a motion to increase in the current marketing budget from $5,000.00 to $10,000.00. The motion was approved and seconded.

OSFM Division Chief Gini Krippner was honored by the membership on the occasion of her retirement from the OSFM.

SFM Report

OSFM Chief Hugh Council provided a few words in honor of Division Chief Gini Krippner. Chief Council, Leslie Habarek and Rodney Slaughter provided the membership with an August 2004 SFM Report. (See attached SFM report) See attached fliers for registration to OSFM classes

Legislative Report

Gene Gantt provided an August 2004 Legislative Report to the Membership.

President Arvin read of thank-you letter From Larry Larson and expressed best wishes to Larry in his recovery from illness.

Exchange of Ideas

Sam Husoe NFSA; AB 1824 will be introduced to be introduced to the senate. He also provided information on upcoming NFSA classes (see attached fliers).

Loren Neyer OSHPD; Announced that DHS has organized its own staff to complete NFPA 101 surveys. She asked the membership for information about their knowledge of permits for flow switches on main drains

Doug Bridewell asked for information regarding the Golden State Firefighters organization.

Cal Lewis C.A. Lewis; Provided a show and tell on some suspect NFPA 13-D installations

Bill Greene Davis FD; Chief Greene had an inquiry on the elimination from the code requirement for pull stations on R-1 Occupancies.

Tom Harvey SFFD; Gave an announcement for the upcoming Cal Chiefs/Western Fire Chiefs Meeting in Concord, Ca. on September 20-23. Tom solicited nominations for Robert W. Gain Award sponsored by the Western Fire Chief’s Association.

Steve Hart; donated another copy of the damn book.

Kent Miller Stockton FD; Announcement for Ammonia Refrigeration Class. (Flier pending)

Darren Drake Napa FD; Asked for pre-registration for the September Napa NORCAL FPO's Meeting.

Morgana Chan Fairfield FD; Reported on the theft of Knox Boxes in Fairfield. Asked if other agencies are experiencing similar thefts. Noted that Knox Boxes can be repined if necessary. Kent Miller Stockton FD; Stockton requires that Knox Boxes are mounted at 10-feet from ground level. She also reported that Fairfield is recruiting for a Fire Prevention Supervisor (see California FPO website).

Afternoon Presentation

A presentation entitled, "Traffic Calming Devices/Roadway Widths" was provided to the membership based upon the pamphlet "Emergency Response Traffic Calming and Traditional Neighborhood Streets" was presented by Dan Burden, Walkable Communities
