Minutes – Monthly Membership Meeting
Modesto, CA
1st Vice President Guiliani called the January 27, 2006 meeting to order at 0930 hours at the Fire Training Center in Modesto.
Past President Mike Stewart conducted the pledge of allegiance and Paul Easter was appointed Sergeant of Arms.
1st Vice President Giuliani introduced host Fire Marshal Mike Payton from Modesto Fire, who welcomed the group. He then introduced his Fire Chief, Jim Miguel, who welcomed everyone to lovely Modesto.
The organization recognized the visiting Fire Chiefs, Building Officials, and Past Presidents and guests.
Self-introductions were made. 1st Vice President Guiliani forgot to ask Past President Danielle Stefani to declare a quorum, finally happened after lunch!!
A motion was made to approve the November minutes by 1st Vice President Guiliani. Moved, seconded, approved.
1st Vice President Giuliani advised of the following nominations for 2006 officers:

Darren Drake, 1st Vice President
Theresa Johnson, 2nd Vice President
Morgana Chan, Secretary
Scott Alber, Treasurer
Dennis Mathisen, Judge Advocate
1st Vice President Giuliani requested any nominations from the floor, 3 times, none given. Nominations closed. Vote was called for, and nominations were approved.
The 2005 Annual report has been completed and will be on the website soon and hard copies will be at the workshop. Thank you to everyone that contributed to the making of the report.
State Fire Marshal Report
Dan Najera gave the State Fire Marshal’s report, report will be in the minutes. There is still time if you wish to help out with the code change committee working groups. Two new working groups have been added. They have two new staff working on code development, Steve Hart and Nancy Wolfe.
Legislative Report
No legislative report – report will be in the minutes
Exchange of Ideas
Lorin Neyer wanted to encourage everyone to attend the code hearings to get input and also have most current information – make sure you budget for staff to attend as well if possible. Steve Hart added some comments as well supporting that.
Theresa Johnson requested to make sure you get your renewals in if you haven’t.
Keith Marshall had a question about a project going into South San Francisco for a project that includes a proposal for drop down doors for area separation.
Darren Drake discussed the issues that Steve Jensen faced when attempting to get approval for appointment to Building Standards, where the disabled community came out in protest. Gale Bate mentioned he is the chairman for the accessibility issues with DSA.
Bill Greene had a question regarding a UL listed power tap that is being used in his jurisdiction, he is looking for one like it but has not found it.

PRESIDENT’S REPORT
1st Vice President Giuliani gave a report of E-board items discussed. She also asked for the quorum that she forgot to do earlier, so declared by Past President Danielle Stefani
Modesto Fire conducted the raffle.
The meeting was adjourned at about 1400 hours. Next meeting will be at UC Davis on February 24, 2006.
