Minutes - Monthly Membership Meeting
Woodland

The June meeting was called to order by President Rick Terry at 9:33 hours at the flyers club in Woodland.

Fort Hartsfield Past President Webmaster, led the pledge of allegiance.

Gene Gantt Benicia Fire Department, was appointed Sergeant at Arms.

Host Fire Marshal Bruce Lecair welcomed the group to the City Of Woodland. He then introduced his staff: Kathy Amen and Sue Vannucci. City Manager Richard Kirkwood welcomed the group to Woodland and praised the work of fire prevention.

President Terry recognized Liaison Chief Doug Williams and Building Official from Rohnert Park and Calbo representative Lee Braun.

Self-introductions were made. At this time Larry Monette Past President, declared a quorum.

A motion was made to approve the May 2000 minutes. Minutes were approved as mailed.

Lee Braun Calbo representative spoke on the National Code development process.


Exchange of ideas:

Larry Larson NFSA, announced two sprinkler seminars that will be held in San Francisco on July 11-13th. NFSA president has sent a letter to the Paul Harvey show asking for a retraction on false information that was given concerning a fire sprinkler system.

Tonya Hoover Past President, Moraga Orinda FPD is looking for any language concerning postponing an aerial display.

Barbara Easter CDF Napa County, informed the group on a fire in a cave winery.

Jeff Ringlman Vacaville Fire Department, announced a job opening for a fire plans examiner/Inspector.

Dennis Mathisen Roseville Fire Department, reminded everyone that the next meeting is in Roseville and requires pre-registration by July 21st.

Bill Green Davis Fire Department, announced a Fire Prevention 1B class and an Engine Company sprinkler inspection class. See enclosed announcements

Ben Leara Grinnell Fire Protection, announced a job opening for a sprinkler designer.

Rick Terry President San Ramon Valley FPD, informed the group of a retirement dinner for Ed Saiz on July 22nd. For information contact Christine Reed at 650-991-8154.

Gene Gantt Benicia Fire Department, also has a job opening.

Joe Garcia SFM, talked about a new residential care facility that must meet state and federal standards. The state will be inspecting for the department of health services for compliance with NFPA 101 requirements.

Fort Hartsfield Past President Webmaster, the California Conference of Arson Investigators is holding a seminar in San Luis Obispo on July 10-12th. For more information go to www.arson.org

Wes Arvin UC Davis Fire Department, announced two job openings for Fire captain. See enclosed announcements

Larry Larson NFSA, stated that they would be putting on a program on dorm fires in August.


State Fire Marshal Report – Joe Garcia SFM

The State Buildings Standards Commission extended the deadline for review of the IBC until January 3, 2001. The 2000 partnership is finishing the phase II review on conflicts of the code. State fire marshal interpretations were handed to the secretary. See enclosed interpretations

Thank you City of Woodland and all contributors for an excellent and well-attended meeting! Much appreciation is extended to the Woodland Fire Department and all staff for making the necessary arrangements. The organization appreciates all raffle contributions that support the organization and committee activities.

President Terry adjourned the meeting at 2:15 hours.
