Minutes – Monthly - Membership Meeting

President Mathisen called the June 24, 2005 meeting to order at 0935 hours at the Roche Palo Alto Facility in Palo Alto.
Past President Tonya Hoover conducted the pledge of allegiance and Jaymae Wentker was appointed Sergeant of Arms
President Mathisen introduced host Fire Marshal Dan Firth, who introduced his Fire Chief Nick Marinaro.
The organization recognized the visiting Fire Chiefs, Building Officials, and Past Presidents.
Self-introductions were made. President Mathisen asked Past President Wes Arvin to declare a quorum.
A motion was made to approve the May minutes by President Mathisen. A motion was made by Wes Arvin to approve the minutes. Tonya Hoover 2nd. Motion carried.
President Mathisen called for a motion to approve proposed 05/06 budget. Motion moved and seconded, approved (took some prompting to vote).
President Mathisen made a special presentation of a proclamation to David Dewey thanking him for his time with the organization.
SFM Report was given by Joe Garcia who discussed the Marysville fireworks incident last year and their report, new WUI standards, hand-washing stations issues (see attached Monthly Report California State Fire Marshal June 2005).
Legislative Report
No report, co-chairs not present.
Exchange of Ideas
Sam Husoe discussed March workshop information will be coming up on the website. Also gave update that at NFPA conference there was approval for sprinklers in one and two family dwellings in NFPA 101. Mentioned joint Socal/ICC meeting in July.
Steve Hart discussed TYCO newly listed dry system that was introduced at NFPA conference. Information is available on their website, can be downloaded. Also he met with Ron Coleman yesterday who has a new book with clipboard articles, it can be ordered from Fire Chiefs Magazine.
Rocque Yballa discussed issue he had with DHS inspections being done in his jurisdiction where they wrote up notice to remove surge protectors. If anyone has experienced this before please call him.
Fort Hartsfield mentioned that he has new merchandise for sale.
President Mathisen mentioned that in Roseville they are pursuing a residential sprinkler ordinance because of an increase in high density housing in their area. If anyone has any information that he can use in this effort please contact him.

President Mathisen gave a report of E-board items discussed.
Palo Alto Fire conducted the raffle.
