Minutes – Monthly - Membership Meeting

South Lake Tahoe, CA

Inn By The Lake

President Mathisen called the May 20, 2005 meeting to order at 0931 hours at the Inn By The Lake in South Lake Tahoe.

Past President Steve Hart conducted the pledge of allegiance and Scott McMillan was appointed Sergeant of Arms

President Mathisen introduced host Fire Chief Lorenzo Gigliotti, who introduced his new Fire Marshal Ray Zachau.

The organization recognized the visiting Fire Chiefs, Building Officials, and Past Presidents.

Self-introductions were made. President Mathisen asked Past President Mike Stewart to declare a quorum.

A motion was made to approve the April minutes by President Mathisen. A motion was made by Gene Gantt to approve the minutes. Rick Terry 2nd. Motion carried.

President Mathisen discussed several items of business, including introduction of the 05/06 proposed budget, new Fire Code Committee Co-chair Scott McMillan, and the WUI standards Phase I approval.

SFM Report was given by Daniel Najerra (see attached Monthly Report California State Fire Marshal May 2005). Leslie Haberek gave overview of WUI standards, and also announced that she is leaving the SFM office to go to work for International Code Council.

Legislative Report

Gene Gantt provided a May 2005 Legislative Report to the Membership. See the attached report in the minutes for additional information.

Exchange of Ideas

President Mathisen announced an inspector position coming open at Roseville.

Ray Bizal discussed an issue with water meters and sprinklers in single family dwellings. NFPA is trying to work on this issue with the SOCal FPO’s as well.

Steve Hart donated that damn book to the southern president.

Fort Hartsfield discussed the changes in the website exchange of ideas. Also mentioned that he got in the merchandise order so he is fully stocked now on sweatshirts, etc.

Lorin Neyer discussed the SFM fire extinguishing committee agenda item about water meters and offered to share the history on it. She also mentioned that she is presenting a class in Walnut Creek on hospital inspections on May 31st.

Steve Hart got up again and mentioned he had copies of a residential sprinkler brochure to share. Also mentioned new information about changes in glass bulbs.

PROGRAM

A program was presented on redevelopment in the South Lake Tahoe area.

South Lake Tahoe Fire conducted the raffle.
