Minutes – Monthly Membership Meeting
Dublin, CA
President Mathisen called the November 18, 2005 meeting to order at 0940 hours at the Alameda County OES in Dublin.
Past President Tonya Hoover conducted the pledge of allegiance and Brandon Burlingame was appointed Sergeant of Arms.
President Mathisen introduced host Fire Marshal Theresa Johnson from Alameda County Fire, who then introduced Deputy Chief Sheldon Gilbert, who introduced Dublin Mayor Janet Lockhart.
The organization recognized the visiting Fire Chiefs, Building Officials, and Past Presidents and guests.
Self-introductions were made. President Mathisen asked Past President Darrell Harguth to declare a quorum.
A motion was made to approve the October minutes by President Mathisen.
Past President Wes Arvin advised of the following nominations for 2006 officers:

President Mathisen requested any nominations from the floor, 3 times, none given. Nominations closed. Vote will occur at January meeting.

Exchange of Ideas
Dave Dodds with Department of Developmental Services gave some information regarding a large facility that is closing in San Jose that will put many disabled citizens into the community. This may start happening in other facilities as well. They are creating a new category for this type of single family dwelling facility, maximum of 5 residents, and sprinklers will be required.
Theresa Johnson mentioned renewals and rosters were mailed.
Tom Harvey mentioned January meeting is in Modesto.
Scott McMillan announced a Fire Code Committee mid-month meeting on December 7th in San Ramon.
Morgana Chan mentioned they have a lot of downtown remodels occurring and need some ideas for fire protection issues.
Tom Harvey advised they are having issues with phone company regarding their wiring, and their stance that it does not require an electrical permit.
Fort Hartsfield mentioned that he has applications for membership, as well as merchandise.
Bill Greene mentioned in their area they have an issue with a local contractor who is on contract with PG&E who is installing some alarm systems, and has tried to get fire department signoff but they do not appear to be fire alarms.
Darren Drake asked if other departments are having issues with fire protection systems in big box stores, as well as storage issues.
Kate Dargan advised that the Vallejo wine warehouse fire had effects in Napa County as well, and was wondering if anyone else is experiencing it.
