We had joint meeting with the Fire Code Committee and Hazardous Materials Committee.

Those present reviewed the questionnaire that the Fire Service Education Committee requested input on. Each issue was discussed at length with many helpful suggestions made. Lorin provided feedback from the group to Rick Carpenter after the meeting.

The booklet that the Community Residential Care Association of California (CRCAC) has published for their members, called "2001 California Building Code "R" Occupancy for Community Residential Care Facilities", was brought up by John Haberek during the exchange of ideas in the general membership meeting. The continued confusion surrounding these occupancies was discussed. Kent Miller suggested that while the committee work was slow, pending a new code being adopted, that the group may want to work on a "Handbook to the California R Occupancies". Pat Stranahan reminded the group of previous documents authored by Nor-Cal FPO’s and some of its members. It was agreed that the committee would work to update previous editions published on this subject. A code group was assigned or volunteered for this task.

Rick Terry reminded the group that the current California Building Code will be in effect for some time still and that there is much work to be done on updating that document. The Building Code Committee would like to hear from anyone that knows of corrections needed or has suggested additions to propose to the current CBC.

No other business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned.
