- Review Meeting Minutes
- Fire Alarm Update
Bruce Lecair discussed the rough drafts of
the NFPA 72 Fire Alarm Guide that Ron Mahlman
distributed at the July Meeting. He further
discussed that it is the desire of the Fire
Equipment and Devices Committee that the
information be provided to the CSFM Fire
Alarm Advisory Fire Sprinkler Advisory Committee
- Title 19/NFPA 25 Committee Progress
- Jim Feld offered a brief report on the history, current progress and future goals of the Title 19/Title 25 committee, which is a subcommittee of the ASFM Fire Sprinkler Advisory Board. The recommendations are near completion and reports to the NORCAL and SOCAL FPO Boards of Directors are expected at the end of the year. The committee is currently completing standardization between the codes. The next project is to begin work and complete work on a common set of inspection and testing forms.
- NFPA 13-D Residential Sprinkler Density Revisions
- The committee discussed the research conducted by George Blind regarding the subject of the UL revised density requirements for residential sprinklers from a .04 to a .05, which became effective on July 12th. Bruce Lecair reported that both Viking and Reliable have new sprinkler heads available for installation and use. Tyco should be ready to distribute their heads in late August or September. Of the sprinkler heads researched, only Reliable requires a 3-head Calculation for sloped ceilings. The committee members cautioned that it is important to review the cut sheets when reviewing plans and systems for compliance.
Respectfully Submitted,
Bruce Lecair
