TOPIC OF DISCUSSION
1. James Parsegian – new UL300 regulations. Old dry chemical systems are to be replaced by UL300 compliant systems by the second service after the new regulations take effect. Existing hoods are to be determined by the local AHJ to be compliant.
Auto Fry/Perfect Fry self-contained stand alone fryers still have to meet the six month service requirements. They are listed on SFM website.
2. Randy Dysart – discussed a stand alone system called "Fresh Chips." It is a vending machine that cooks and dispenses cooked to order potato chips. The one machine seen does not have a UL listing or suppression system. No one else had seen the device.
3. A new smoke alarm was discussed and looked at. It is made my Dupont #PS-13. It screws into a light fixture on the ceiling and a light bulb screws into it. It is UL listed as well as SFM and is sold at Home Depot.
4. Randy Dysart – asked how any fire departments are receiving system reports from C-16 contractors. Some are not receiving them, some are by fax, some by mail.
5. Shane Clary – stated that the 9th edition of UL 864 has been adopted by the BSC in October and that it will affect the fire alarm panel parts listing for SFM July 1st.
6. Shane Clary – The closing date for proposals to the 2010 NFPA 72 is November 9th. Proposals in NFPA720 should be posted next month on the NFPA website.
7. Vern Canon – regarding anti-freeze in sprinkler systems. Was anyone allowing anything other than listed expansion tanks? While most of us flatlanders do not have to worry about this matter we agreed that we would only accept listed tanks.
Respectfully submitted,
Ed Tubbs
