I. Review of the June meeting minutes

II. Old Business

  1. Title 19/NFPA 25 Sub-committee meeting
  1. Bruce Lecair and Sam Husoe provided a report on the subcommittee meeting held in Ranch Cucamunga on July 25, 2001. The committee reviewed the discrepancies between the two codes for service and testing. A future meeting to finalize the list and to develop a recommendation to the State Fire Marshal will be held in Woodland on September 13, 2001 at 0930.

III. New Business

  1. Central GBR Replacement Program
  1. Terri Leyton provided a detailed report on the replacement program of the Central GBR, GEM and Star sprinkler heads. All sprinkler heads constructed with o-rings are eligible for replacement under the term of the Central Replacement Program. A web site has been developed (in the minutes). Local AHJ’s will be receiving additional information in the next 2-4 weeks.
  1. AHJ’s are invited to contact Terri for power point presentations and additional information.

IV. Roundtable

  1. Steve Hart reported on the Burn Trailer. The trailer was displayed at the meeting. It is available to all AHJ’s for Pub ED events, fairs, etc.
  2. Mark Hollan reported that not all Viking Sprinklers have pentles. This is no longer a requirement for manufactures and is making identification of the heads more difficult.
  3. Linda Brandelius reported that she is looking for information on outdoor fireplaces that are being sold in the stores. Have any jurisdictions addressed this issue through local ordinances?
  4. Sam Husoe reported that Covina FD is being consolidated into LA County FD and is resisting changes to their Sprinkler Ordinance through the local politicians. They are being asked to change to a lesser ordinance that is in line with LA County FD.

Respectfully Submitted, Bruce Lecair
