  1. Review Meeting Minutes
  2. NFPA 13-D Residential Sprinkler Density Revisions

    A. UL has revised the density requirements for residential sprinklers from .04 to a .05.gpm/sq.ft. and has also altered the tests used for sprinkler listing. The committee discussed the ramifications of the changes which became effective on July 12th. In light of the fact that some of the newly listed sprinklers are unavailable to date, the committee has decided to monitor and study the results of the changes. The initial belief is that the most adverse effects will be on residential systems with sloped ceilings in jurisdictions with low water pressure levels. A report to the Nor Cal Board of Directors will be presented upon the conclusion of the study.

  3. Fire Alarm Survey
  1. CAAFA is pursuing a survey to obtain information that will assist their organization in designing fire alarm systems more efficiently in each individual jurisdiction
  1. Fire Alarm Update
  1. Ron Mahlman distributed rough drafts of information which will be utilized for development of a NFPA 72 Fire Alarm Guide. It is the desire of the Fire Equipment and Devices Committee that the information be provided to the CSFM Fire Alarm Advisory Committee.
  1. AB 1342 Clean Water Act
  1. Sam Husoe provided information on the clean water act. The legislation will ultimately cause difficulties with testing fire sprinkler and other water based fire protection devices.
