Sprinkler Water Discharge- Tom Bednar asked about the requirements for handling discharge water from sprinkler systems. Specifically related to quarterly and 5 year tests. Where does the mandate come from and what are jurisdictions doing to comply?

Water Surges- Ron Kunkel indicated they service the fire alarm system in a building which has had numerous waterflow alarms due to water surges. He asked about ways, if any, to prevent the surges. The group suggested several ways to minimize the effect of water surges on the flow alarm.

Central Station Requirements- Steve Hart stated he would like to see some clear language addressing the specific reporting requirements of a UL Central Station Company. Specifically, the requirement for reporting system alarm conditions to the local AHJ.

Steve Hart offered to contact our long lost friend Howard Hopper of UL for clarification.

ICC Proposes Development of Standard For Multipurpose Piping Systems- Jaymae Wentker reported that the July/August 2004 issue of Operation Life Safety has a brief write-up worth reading.

Respectfully Submitted,
