Old Business:

Residential (13D) Follow-Up Inspections at Resale:  Jaymae will contact Steve Hart to get a list of cities in California with residential sprinkler ordinances.  Committee members will be asked to contact several cities on the list to determine which require 13D systems be inspected at time of resale or any other time other than at final sign-off.

New Business:

Sam Husoe- Distributed California State Fire Marshal Interpretation 03-030 regarding Fire Resistive Substitutions.  This brought up some interesting comments. Go to the State Fire Marshal’s website and view if you have a chance.

Pat Chu- During a fire alarm test ran across a HVAC unit with smoke detector shutdown that had a shutoff delay when the unit was operating in heat mode.  (Jaymae has since run across this on several occasions.  Apparently the units have a power shutdown delay to allow for the unit to either cool-down or wind- down prior to power being shut-off to the unit.  One instance there was a 15second delay , another time a 30 second delay).

Bill Tyler- Distributed a letter dated May 3, 2005 from the County of Los Angeles Fire Department  regarding Displacement Type Water meters.  According to the letter the LACO FD is considering modifying their residential fire sprinkler Regulation #19 to prohibit displacement type water meters on new residences or existing residences that are required to install a fire sprinkler system.  According to the letter, AWWA C700-02 Section II states that the meters described in this standard are not designed to be used in water service piping intended to extinguish fire.  Bill will follow up to get the history behind the letter.   See Bill or Jaymae for a copy of the letter.
