MID-MONTH MEETING MINUTES
MAY 2, 2002

1. Old Business
a. UFC courses recently held at Contra Costa County Fire Training Center were very successful. The courses were well attended and approximately twenty people received their Uniform Fire Code certification.
b. The Wildland Fire Investigation class sponsored by Marin and Sonoma County FPO's, in conjunction with NORCAL, will be taking place July 10, 2002 in Novato. Bill Tyler will be the contact for this class; he can be reached at (415) 892-1513 or btyler@novatofire.org.
c. We are currently evaluating a course called " Dealing with Challenging People and Situations." This course presents information useful to anyone who must function in confrontational situations.
d. We are working to schedule an R2 workshop in Santa Rosa in the fall. More information to follow.
e. We are working to schedule a code adoption class in the fall, possibly in October or November. This class is designed to assist jurisdictions in the code adoption process for the upcoming codes.
f. We are working on holding a Fire Prevention 3B (Plan Review) course in Vacaville. This course will be held in conjunction with the Sacramento FPO's on five consecutive weekdays. More information to follow.
g. We are in contact with a private organization in reference to teaching the Public Educators course on consecutive weekdays in the summer. More information to follow.
2. New Business
a. The revised requirements for the Fire Marshal certification have been approved by the SFM. The SFM training division has agreed to put on an afternoon program at one of the monthly meetings to present the new track.
b. We will be contacting several Fire Marshals in the near future to request a representative from their department to sit on this committee. In order to continue to provide educational opportunities, we need active participation from organization members.
