ICBO series 300 classes: Norcal co-sponsorship with SAC/Metro to be held in Sacramento starting September 4^th. The series of 7 classes would be held on consecutive Mondays through November 5^th. Cost $150.00 each. Contact Vernon Brown 916-636-1811 (See flyers in minutes or web page.)
Code Adoption Workshop: Emphasizing Model Ordinance for code adoption, how to write amendments to the fire code and why an agency should or should not write amendments, When to write fire protection standards and what language is required to be in the adoptive ordinance, How to write Findings of Fact when there are amendments to building standards when they are more restrictive than the CBC, references that need to be included, public hearing and public notice, as well as the importance of including the stakeholders and shareholders from the very beginning of the process. Public Education 1:

40 hour CFSTES Course. Norcal in conjunction with the Fairfield Fire Dept., January 2002. Contact (exact date, time, cost TBA- stay tuned for more details)

The committee discussed the following items:

Bill Greene stated that he is in the process of revisiting the curriculum to revive the Title 19 and

Title 24 courses. A single New 2 day course will focus on the lesser known/lesser used items in those regulations. There will be a 4 hour preview of the New course at the Annual Fire Prevention Workshop at Monterey, in February. Contact Bill Greene if there are content items that you would like to see folded into the New curriculum.

Recent Norcal classes were reviewed and upcoming classes were discussed.

Reviewed draft forms to be submitted to E-board for FSEC use.

Need for updated instructor information. All members please update your contact information to CFSTES training courses. Currently the State Fire Marshal’s instructor training list needs updating. Please fill out the attached form and submit. In addition: please notify the Fire Service Education Committee of your area of expertise.
