• ICBO series 300 classes: Norcal co-sponsorship with SAC/Metro to be held in Sacramento starting September 4^th. The series of 7 classes would be held on consecutive Mondays through November 5^th. Cost $150.00 each. See flyers in minutes or web page.

• Code Adoption Workshop: November 8^th, in Novato. Given by Div. Chief Forrest Craig.

The committee discussed the following items:

• Bill Greene gave an update of the rewrites of Prevention 1A and 1B. Prev. 1A is complete. Prev. 1B is 80% complete, and will be finished by November/December of 2001. Changes to curriculum include "other methods of evaluation," including "quizzes" that are in addition to the 50 question final. These quizzes may be used at the instructor’s discretion. The quizzes were developed to assist instructors in coming up with a "grade score" when the class is taught in conjunction with a community college forum.

• Round table discussion regarding State Fire Training’s Fire Prevention Officer I, II, III and Fire Marshal Certification tracks. In summary, a recommendation on the future direction of the current four track certification process has been requested by State Fire Training. • Art Cota from State Fire Training announced an Instructor Symposium to be held in San Diego in February 2002. Art stated that there are 50 slots open to fire service personnel where grant money will cover their expenses. • Art Cota from State Fire Training announced a Leadership and Ethics certificate program to begin in the Spring of 2002. 5 Classes, 16 to 40 hrs each. • Art Cota from State Fire Training announced that a survey of the composition of the fire service is forth coming in order to prioritize and focus on departments’ training needs.
• Art Cota from State Fire Training stated that the notifications of the National Grant awards for fire service programs will be announced in July.
