This committee discussed the following issues:

1. Two classes have been scheduled for the up coming months. The first is a December update of the Bay Area Air Quality regulations regarding open burning, public nuisances, dry cleaning operations, and auto body spraying operations. This ½ day class should be of special interest to Prevention Divisions that deal with these issues in the nine Bay Area Counties under the jurisdiction of Bay Area Air Quality. The second is a two day juvenile fire setters intervention workshop put on by the US Fire Administration, to be held in the North Bay in March. (Flyers to follow)
2. Discussed the need for Norcal Fire Service Education Committee to reconnect with local county FPO organizations. Many prevention and investigation classes are being held by individual, local FPO’s. It is a goal of Norcal FSEC to interface with local FPO’s and possibly assist, promote, contribute, or enhance these classes under the umbrella of this Norcal committee. An updated data base of contact information is needed. Please send your local FPO contact information to Novato Fire Insp. Bill Tyler at btyler@novatofire.org .
3. Several new class topics were discussed. A special thank you to Stephen Johnson and Morgana Chan of Fairfield Fire Dept. for their input.
