The following topics were discussed at our monthly meeting:

  1. The Building Standards Commission meeting on 19 January 2005 and its implications for the future code adoption in California. The Commission directed the Coordinating Council to meet "as often as necessary" to resolve the copyright issue prior to the Commission’s March 2005 meeting.
  2. The first Coordinating Council meeting is scheduled for 8 February 2005 at the Secretary of State’s office, 1500 11th Street at 1000 hours. Both committee co-chairs are planning to attend and will update the committee in March at the joint conference.
  3. The committee has received a code change proposal from Rocque Yballa, fire marshal of the Central County Fire Department, to amend Appendix III-A and Appendix III-B of the California Fire Code to include minimum fire-flow requirements and minimum fire hydrant distribution requirements for any school building. These provisions would essentially codify the provisions contained in the joint OSFM/DSA memorandum dated 13 August 1997. The committee felt the proposal had merit but wanted time to review the specific language. Trout to forward electronic copies to all interested members for their review/comment prior to our February meeting in Woodland.
