Title 19/ IFC merger
The Fire Code committee will be taking up the project of merging the two documents. The committee will be developing the proposal for approval by the Board and the SFM,
The benefits are many and the exposure of the SFM’s regulations to the fire service increase greatly.
A question was raised on how the current efforts of the SFM with regard to NFPA 25’s adoption would be effected. The merger of T19/ IFC will likely spin off to many more "blended" codes such as a California Fire Alarm Code or the blend of T19 and NFPA 72.
Other NorCal committee assignments must be made to review the various T19 subject matter specific chapters. Industry involvement will also have to happen. When the other committees evaluate the T19 chapters, industry groups should also be identified to bring into the process.
A question was posed on identifying the anticipated opponents. A list of these groups is to be developed to approach them with the proposal in order to find a way of getting support.
Rocque and Dan to develop the business plan with a timetable to present to the SFM and an identification of a point person from the SFM to work with.
Next meeting Aug. 10 at San Ramon.
See you there!
