NORCAL UNIFORM FIRE CODE COMMITTEE
MEETING MINUTES FOR 11/16/01
MEMBERS PRESENT
Cliff Vaniman, Jaymce Wentker, Bruce Becker, Stephen Harrington, Tim Rapella, and Bill Lichtenberger
It was decided to hold mid-month meetings on the second Wednesday of each month. The preferred location would be the San Ramon Fire Department, the committee is awaiting confirmation the meeting room there is available. At this time there is no mid-month meeting scheduled for December.
- BUILDING STANDARDS MEETING:
All present were informed of the Building Standards Commission meeting on November 28 and 29 and how critical it was to have our representation at this meeting.

- Represented NorCal and provided input on code related matters at the following meetings: Western Fire Chief’s Conference in Anaheim and Palm Springs; NFPA Conference; California Building Standards Commission; and Mobil Home Park Committee.
- Worked with Fire Equipment Committee in an effort to address elevator shunt issues.
- Continued efforts of consolidating, where possible, Title 19 and California Fire Code.
- GOALS FOR 2002:
- Work with Socal to develop report for Cal Chief’s on the pros and cons of each code and accompanying process that will be looked at by the State for future adoption. This so an informed and timely decision can be made on where our efforts can best be focused.
- Work with State Fire Marshal’s Office on their rewrite of Title 19 and to incorporate as much of that document into the adopted California Fire Code as possible.
- Identify as early as possible any changes to the code that might be necessary and initiate the process for developing amendments.
- Work with SoCal UFC Committee on mutual areas of concern and assure pro-active lines of communication are maintained.
- Provide input, where necessary, on any issues related to the Fire Code and its application.
