The following topics were discussed at our monthly meeting:

Kent Miller, Stockton Fire, and Jim Monty, Lathrop-Manteca Fire, updated us on the ICC Hearings in Fort Worth. So far, 44 states have adopted or committed to the ICC codes.

Discussed the 17 October 2002 BSC/Code Change Committee Meeting in Sacramento

• OSHPD wants IAPMO codes (Plumbing and Mechanical)
• Lots of disagreement amongst fire organizations between NFPA 5000 and ICC
• Very short timeframe to compare the codes and make a recommendation to BSC (31 May 2002)
• SFM is activating their Fire and Life Safety Advisory Board to review the codes and make a recommendation. Norcal FPOs to recommend three members
• Requesting a copy of Washington State’s comparison of the IBC vs. NFPA 5000 to save some time

Co-chairs to meet with Socal FPO counterparts to layout a game plan, with a second meeting to be held in Monterey

Committee members want to re-establish mid-month meetings to stay on top of the code process

A sign-up sheet was passed around for those willing to review the IBC/IFC and NFPA 5000

Round table on the upcoming election and its possible affect on the code adoption process
