Napa Committee Meeting
Hazardous Materials

Mid-month meeting will be in Milpitas on September 14th. The meeting will be held at the station on Main Street at 9:30 am. Discussion will include Code Amendments for the IBC and IFC and the work already completed. Also discussion will include the Hydrogen codes completed by ICC and what our committee can inject.
Discussion in Napa:
How is California’s involvement in the ICC Conference to be held in Detroit in September of this year?
The Hazardous Material Committee taking on the H-Occupancies, for the IBC and IFC California Amendment task to begin shortly. This will be discussed at the mid-month meeting in Milpitas.
Hydrogen: What areas are not covered by International Fire Code? Develop code changes only on priority need at this time.
How reliable is the equipment being used to detect hydrogen leaks in the industry? What is considered acceptable equipment? The listings of hydrogen equipment (UL) and the problems of standardization on only accepting manufacture specifications.
Hydrogen units in trailers, portable units that could be develop similar to the portable hydrogen units used in 2003 when vehicles were driven from Sacramento to Los Angeles. The drive signaled the coming use of hydrogen fuel vehicles in California.
The coming PSI of hydrogen lines at 10,000 psi as compared to 3,000 psi now in the regulations.
The meeting was adjourned and the discussion will be continued in Milpitas on September 14th at 9:30 am.
