The committee discussed the March 29th tour of the Hydrogen Plant in San Jose. All those interested, please contact Paul Inouye, Milpitas Fire for reservations for the tour.
Ray Simpson, San Jose Fire, suggested the committee for Hydrogen Fuels put the Draft Code as 5205 - Hydrogen Fuel.
Discussion involved the role industry will play in the code write. Kent will take a copy of the 2nd draft to the SoCal committee during the annual workshop in Buellton next month. Ray Simpson will put together the draft for SoCal. Hydrogenics Corporation of Mississauga Onterio, Canada contacted Kent. They are interested in the committees development of Codes. There are still many issues to be settled on Hydrogen Fuel. One of importance is the dispensing of the fuel. The committee wants a code that can be easily adopted by either ICC or NFPA.
Ray Bizal, NFPA, explained that an NFPA 54 committee is putting together a Hydrogen Standard for the Hydrogen Highway. A question to Ray, is NFPA addressing both the Dispensing and Installation issues. Ray is going to get back to the committee on the progress of the NFPA standard.
The mid-month Hydrogen Fuel meeting was held in Milpitas on February 15, 2005. Attending was Kent Miller, Paul Inouye, Ron Keefer, Ray Simpson, Larry Monette, Michael Murtiff. At this meeting several directional ideas were laid out. The 2nd Draft was loosely put together. Michael and Ray from San Jose Fire had some great input. Thanks to all who are participating in the process. The committee wants to be ahead of the curve in California when the Hydrogen Highway settles in.
Copy of the 2nd Draft will be sent to the SFM Office, Hugh Council, so he can keep on track with the progress of the committee.
Respectfully,
Kent Miller
