NORTHERN CALIFORNIA FIRE PREVENTION OFFICER’S

HAZARDOUS MATERIALS COMMITTEE

February 24, 2006 – UC DAVIS

In Attendance:

Kent Miller - Stockton Fire

Ron Keefer - Menlo Fire

Larry Monette - Monette Consulting

Paul Inouye - Milpitas Fire

Danielle Stefani - Livermore/Pleasanton Fire

Steve Hart - SFM

Our main topic for discussion was determining our next step in the code amendment process. Steve Hart provided an overview of the recent Core Group meeting. Our southern counterparts opposed two of our proposed amendments concerning ozone generators and treatment systems for toxic gases in use.

Danielle provided much needed insight on the type of information we should prepare to take to Building Standards and Stakeholders meeting. Visual demonstrations of potential exposure seem to work well and are easier to understand.

We plan on having our package ready for Buellton to present to Southern FPO’s.

The email forwarded by Darren regarding the alcohol content in wine was also discussed. This is an amendment that we can work on with our Oregon and Washington counterparts. We need volunteer(s) to initiate research on this.

Respectfully Submitted,

Kent Miller
