We discussed a CUPA requirement for the testing of waste tanks every 5 years. Apparently inconsistencies occur in the enforcement and requirements for the 5-year tank certification. Further research needs to be conducted to determine the requirements of this section and under what criteria the certification needs to address.
The review of Section 2209, Hydrogen Fuel – Dispensing and Generation -Facilities of the 2003 IFC is ongoing. Paul Inouye discussed some of the issues presented at the WFCA/NFPA conference in early June. These included location, underground storage of cryogenic tanks, and incorporating all hydrogen regulations into one NFPA standard. It also appears that the future fuel dispensing station will have dispensers for gas, diesel, and hydrogen at one location.
Copies of the draft NFPA standard for hydrogen fuel dispensing were distributed. A mid month meeting to continue development of hydrogen fuel-dispensing standard is scheduled for July 15th in Milpitas.
Once the standard is completed we need to devise a method of adoption. The possibility of adding Section 2209 of the IFC with our amendments to our current code, possibly as emergency legislation, was discussed. This seems to make sense since we are on the road to adoption of the IFC.
Respectfully Submitted,
Kent Miller
