1.  The Committee reviewed its own Code Changes submitted to the IFC and IBC.  The Code Hearings are scheduled for the weekend of March 20th, and the week of March 22nd.  Both Committee Co-Chairs will not be able to attend this Hearing; We have asked Reinhard Hanselka to represent our Committee for this Hearing.

2.  Committee members reviewed other Code Change proposals printed in the IFC Monograph.  Many member expressed concern over these proposals.  Members felt that the changes did nothing to improve the IFC or created problems that required “fixes” in other sections of the Code.

3.  The above discussion lead to the second Fire Code option, the Uniform Fire Code currently being advertised by the Western Fire Chiefs Association and getting much attention from the California Fire Chiefs Association.  After much discussion, the committee wanted to go on record as endorsing the Uniform Fire Code instead of the International Fire Code.

The next scheduled meeting for the Haz Mat Committee will be at the April Nor Cal Meeting.
