Minutes for April 25, 2002 in Novato

Discussion Items:

Jennie gave a "run-down" on AB 1216 and an update on conversations between SFM and interested parties. This conversation was n preparation for the upcoming hearing in Sacamento scheduled for April 28, 2003. Jennie conveyed that BIA will take a neutral position because they are continuing to work with the SFM in the develoment of the Building Standards. HCD has concerns with enforcement, language for communities at risk and affordable housing. The SFM wants to make it clear that the intent of AB 1216 was never intended to "blend" the Bates Bill with Building Standards.

Co-Chair Hoover attended the hearing on April 28 and gave testimony in support of the Cal Chiefs Fire Prevention Officers Section.

The committee set a date and time for a midmonth meeting. May 9th from 1000 to 1230 will be the committee’s midmonth meeting at the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District Headquarters Building. The building address is 1500 Bollinger Canyon Rd in San Ramon. Please go to the Fire Prevention Division side of the building to find out which room we will be in.

We will be discussing the progress of Chapter 7A and AB 1216 along with doing some comparing of other documents of interest.

For the midmonth meeting please bring your copy of the Fire Code, NFPA 1144 and the ICC UWI Code (if you have one).
