Discussion Items:
- Tonya gave out the latest SFM Express Terms of the WUI standards (Chapter 7A California Building Code). This will be emailed to those present interested.
- Tonya briefed the committee on the workshop and the WUI track being offered. Check the FPO website for more information.
- The committee co-chairs are starting the budget process for the upcoming budget year. There was discussion concerning suggestions for committee objectives and Committee members are urged to assist in this process. Contact one of the co-chairs.
- Forrest led the discussion to develop Article 86 of the Fire Code into a complete minimum design guide for Fire Prevention Plans. Vegetation mitigation planning should also be included in the article. The committee would like to develop guidelines for appendix use that maybe adopted by agencies for use. This to be part of the objectives for the committee and to be discussed with our Southern committee. The committee would also discuss this issue with the Fire Code committee for input and suggestions.
- The committee also discussed moving forward with SFM on the licensing and certification of WUI Inspectors. A meeting has been scheduled with Art Cota of SFM Training to discuss the needs. This is also an objective for the budget submittal to the Board of Directors. There is also a need to move forward with proposed legislation for this item.
- The committee will propose a resolution to Cal Chiefs concerning the support of the WUI Inspector. Forrest will be working on this with Chief Williams to provide at the Cal Chiefs Annual meeting in May.
- Committee members are urged to submit WUI information (resolutions, standards, guidelines, ordinances, design standards) for FPO web page.
