Executive Board Meeting

April 22, 2005

The following individuals were present: Dennis Mathisen, Darren Drake, Theresa Johnson, Morgana Chan, Wes Arvin, Doug Williams, Joe Perry, Forrest Craig

Chief Grijalva arrived at the end of the meeting

The board reviewed the minutes from the board meeting conducted on 2/25/05.

Chief Perry mentioned that the organization may want to approach Cal Chiefs about sending a letter to the SFM in regards to the Code issue.

Cal Chief’s website: Wes will be working with the parties involved to move this process forward.

Meeting with Chiefs Revere and Warren: Doug Williams has been working on getting this arranged.

Director of Operations Position: Done

Name Badges logo: We need to make sure that it is actually the CalChief’s logo that we use.

Policy #3 mileage reimbursement: Changes made to mileage reimbursement, approved.

Policy # 29 Director of Marketing and Merchandise: Done

SFM Interpretations: During our meeting with Chief Grijalva we requested they lengthen the timeframe for interpretations from 5 days to 10 days. They are taking it under consideration.

New Fire Code Co-chair: Scott McMillan has been selected as the new co-chair, and we are awaiting approval from his Chief.

California Inspector’s Guides: We are starting the process to look into the issue of whether we will be moving forward with the next series of guides based on the new codes. Forrest recommended we include Cal Chiefs in the decision process. We also need to approach ICC, and make sure we include Bill Greene in the process. Joe Perry will be approaching Cal Chiefs about the issue.

Class at Cal Chief’s conference: Cal Chiefs is offering to have the FPO’s present a class at the September conference. Doug Williams will advise them that we would be very happy to participate.

Insurance Industry Rep: Wes Arvin discussed the possibility of having a liaison from the insurance industry attend our meetings. Darren recommended we contact the State Insurance Commission to see if there is an insurance organization similar to ours, and offered to do the research.

WUI Certification Training: Classes are starting in May and are already full. There is a resolution that we need to get to Cal chiefs.

CalBO Fire Advisory Committee Meeting: Wes Arvin gave an overview of meeting. CalBO is interested in doing some joint training. South has a rep on the committee, but they do not change the person each year and we may want to look at doing the same thing.
