Executive Board Meeting
February 27, 2004
Dublin, CA
The following individuals were present: Mike Stewart, Wes Arvin, Dennis Mathisen, Angela Giuliani, Bruce Lecair, Doug Williams, Theresa Johnson, John Haberek, Fort Hartsfield, Darren Drake, Forrest Craig, Tonya Hoover and the UWI Committee.
Executive Board Monthly minutes dated January 23rd were approved.
Tonya Hoover – handed out a draft of "Recommendations for the Governor’s Blue Ribbon Commission on California Wildfires". She would like both Nor Cal and So Cal Executive Boards to review these concepts and submit them to Cal Chiefs to bring to the Governor’s Blue Ribbon Commission in April of 2004.
Fort Hartsfield – Asked how to bill for maintenance on the joint website. He will bill the Nor Cal Treasurer who will then bill So Cal for their half of the maintenance costs.
A letter was received from Ray Bizal from NFPA on February 3rd.
A letter was received from CalBo asking for a $350 donation for their Annual Business Meeting. A motion was made to approve the donation and it was seconded.
Code Issue –The Building and Fire Code Committees from the North with Rick Terry and the South with Laura Blaul are working on reviewing the NFPA 1 and 5000 documents.
Charles Gray Award –The presentation of the Charles Gray Award will be made at the Thursday night reception.
Annual Report –Angela had 200 copies of the Annual Report printed and they were distributed to the members at the February meeting.
Financial Status – Wes Arvin, Forrest Craig and Bruce Lecair will present their ideas via email.
Agenda Items for the Joint Workshop Meeting – Mike will create an agenda for the joint workshop meeting after talking to the President of So Cal FPO’s. Several items to be discussed are: the new website, NFPA code review, Code issues, Workshop Operational Plan/Agenda, Inspector Guides and NFPA licensing agreements, and UWI recommendations from Tonya Hoover for the Blue Ribbon Commission.
Meeting with NFPA – Stewart
Plaques – Dennis is working with So Cal FPO’s for the plaques through All Action Awards.
Workshop Issues – The location of the joint Executive Board meeting is unknown at this time.
A motion was made for Nor Cal to pay for Fort Hartfield’s hotel accommodations at the workshop for his time spent marketing shirts, advertisements, the website and memberships at the workshop and the cost will come out of the marketing budget line item. A policy will be created to describe what will be paid for at the next Workshop.
January’s Financial Report was handed out.
There will be a retirement dinner for Joe Perry, the Fire Chief of Napa, on April 27th. Congratulations Chief Perry on your retirement!
