Executive Board Meeting

Roll Call - The meeting was called to order at 1130 hours.

The following individuals were present: Wes Arvin, Dennis Mathisen, Bruce Lecair, Darren Drake, Theresa Johnson, Doug Williams, Mike Stewart, John Haberek

Review of Minutes

The board reviewed and approved the August 27, 2004 Executive Board Meeting Minutes.

Written Communications

California Fire Code Implementation Issue Summary Letter, The letter authored by NorCal and SoCal FPO’s was forwarded to Cal Chiefs
Inspector Guides, The board received a letter from Bill Greene detailing the current inventory of the inspector guides and an update on sales.

Unfinished Business

NFPA Technical Committees, The board is waiting for input and follow-up from Cal Chief EB.
California Performance Review, No formal report
CCAI and NorCAL, Theresa Johnson met with the CCAI Roundtable Coordinator and reported that CCAI is not opposed to a NorCal Fire Investigations Sub-committee. Theresa Johnson will prepare a position paper on reforming the Fire Investigation Subcommittee for presentation at a later date to the general membership.
List Serve and L.A. Fire Marshals, This issue was discussed at the NorCal /SoCal FPO joint meeting. NorCal FPO’s are waiting for input from SoCal FPO on a plan before making any decisions.
Cal Chief’s Website, Fort Hartsfield desires to maintain the NorCal FPO website and has expressed concerns on the technical aspects of maintenance and development of the website. Fort will continue to work on the technical aspects of the website. We will work with Cal Chiefs on the website and continue to place content in it.

New Business

Communication of Sub-committees, The coordination will be the responsibility of Angela Giuliani and Dennis Mathisen.

SoCal Liaison Chief, The board discussed how we can best support the South in this respect.
Residential Care Facility Grant, Letter was sent to Rodney Slaughter expressing concerns regarding the parameters of the grant.
Afternoon Presentations, An issue has been expressed regarding vendors at afternoon presentations. The board has expressed that presentations should be informational and should not be sales presentations.
AB1316, The SFM office has taken a different position that originally intended by the North and South. Wes Arvin will contact Randy Roxson for establishment of communication regarding this and to establish monthly conference calls.
UFCA, The UFCA has asked NORCAL FPO to become a chapter. The board expressed no opposition to this issue.

Board Members Report

Treasurers Report

Darren Drake provided a Treasurer’s Report to the board. He is still researching investing monies in a short term CD. The board advised that a formal plan is needed and that investments should be a staggered.
Treasurer Drake reported that a merchandizing plan is still needed.
