Goal #1 – Continue Fire Agency Rotation for Meetings

1. To allow for everyone to see different departments.

2. Give opportunity to “show your stuff”.

3. Encourage long distance travelers to attend a closer meeting location.

4. Guest speakers might be in the general area and more likely to attend.

The Committee decided to continue to rotate meetings. We believe this was a huge success last year because we allowed members to sign up to host meetings and months not taken, Contra Costa County Fire hosted (thank you!). This also allowed members to introduce the Committee to the different Fire Chiefs and Fire Marshals. Attendance at the meetings has grown this year and we hope this trend will continue.

Goal #2 – Guest Speakers

1. The Committee chose to have various topics presented during the year to keep us up to date on the latest information and technology.

2. The guest speaker was asked to present on a volunteer basis, thus, saving our budget for other needs.

The Committee had a variety of speakers sharing data on a variety of topics. We improved our knowledge about special needs groups, new and improved school presentations, advancements in home fire extinguishment, injury prevention, car seat safety, Disaster Service Workers (DSW), wildland urban interface, senior safety, and much more!

Goal #3 – Juvenile Fire Setter PSA

1. To create a Public Service Announcement for the public about the awareness of juvenile firesetters and the intervention that is available through your local fire department.

The PSA was completed in May. It focused on informing the public that it is important for parents to communicate with their kids about the consequences of firesetting as well as being aware that there is help out there for parents concerned that there child may be experimenting with fire.

North: Our Mission

To promote the protection of life, property and the environment from effects of fire and other hazardous events through education, engineering and enforcement.
