BOARD OF DIRECTORS PRESENT :

May monthly meeting in Long Beach on Wed. 5-12-04. Laura and Karyn are unable to attend. Kevin will preside. Hank will present opening remarks as host.

Kevin distributed new SoCal rosters. Kevin will maintain database.

Discussion regarding renewals (due by the end of June.)

Non-members should pay more for meetings. Penni will make sign announcing this for the June meeting.

Host city should provide 2 members for check-in and 1 for S of Arms

Check-in table needs 3 people total. (Ops plus Brd Mmbr as needed)

Attendees list should be alphabetical.

Board member should coordinate raffle sales at meeting.

Board needs to review By- Laws re: Host City.

Host City needs to be advised of responsibilities.

Policy of providing the Host City with one free membership or meeting began last month in Huntington Beach where the FM received a free ticket to the meeting.

Kevin dispensed Board badges. Kevin will order Comm Chair badges

(white with red letters) Hank will pick-up.

Ken K will correct and distribute the updated Comm Chair roster.

SoCal Application form on the website will resemble North

Ken Quick inquired about tax filing responsibility. Chief Garcia

will inquire of CFCA. Tax ID # 95-4590848.

Fort wants to contact each Co-Chair. Karyn will write letter. ??

Legislation: John Haberek is SoCal liaison to North Leg. Comm.

AB 2065: letter of support can go forward due to time constraints and previous CFCA support. Announcement of Brd. action should follow at the next membership meeting.

Member Representing Other Committees:

Ken K will compile information on SoCal members that sit on various Comm’s and Boards.

New applications should record this information.

This will identify affiliations and define areas where participation is needed.

Outreach: Discussion outlining the role of the Liaison Chief.

Brief CFCA about pertinent FPO activities, actions, events, etc.

Bring back pertinent CFCA information to FPO.

Identify and coordinate issues that affect multiple counties.

Karyn suggested that Chief solicit the CFCA for a gift for the Christmas membership meeting.

Laura will coordinate a Comm Resolution with Wes

Penni’s reminded Brd. about the semi-annual meeting with NorCal

Vote/Approval of the establishment of a Past Presidents Committee. Scope goals and objectives to be formalized.

Vote/Approval to notify CFCA of individual participation on the newly formed CSFA Ad Hoc Committee on Fire Prevention (not official SoCal representation). Additionally, ask CFCA for approval to establish and designate a liaison position.

Vote/Approval to draft letter to CPF offering to assist with issues common to both organizations.

Vote/Approval to discount meeting cost for first time guests to $15.

Neg votes. Penni/Ken Q. Discussion centered originally on encouraging student participation. Brd. agreed that student membership fee should be reduced.

Fire Code/Bldg Standards – Budget presented by Laura Blaul

Fire Protection Devices and Equipment – no report

Public Education – Budget presented by Penni Overstreet-Murphy

Fire Service Education – Karyn reported for Darci and Colleen

Urban Wildland Interface – Budget presented by Chief Rolland Crawford via telephone.

Goals were approved and travel will be approved via specific requests submitted prior to trip.
